Influence of pulse-jet cleaning frequency on filtering separation of beech wood dust. The article presents the results of investigation on the efficiency of dust detachment from the nonwoven filter media. For estimation of the dust release property of these media the coefficient IR was used. The dust release from the filter surface depends on the fabric finishing, pulse-air pressure and cycle time.
Fuel properties of woody biomass plant descending from urban areas. The presented work includes research on woody biomass plant descending from pruning operations in Poznań urban area. Studies were carried out on deciduous wood (Populus tremula L., Acer platanoides L., Robinia pseudoacacia L.) and coniferous wood (Pinus sylvestris L.). The aim of this study was to investigate the basic fuel properties...
Filtering separation of pine wood dust under variable conditions of intensity of pulse-jet cleaning. The paper deals with the cleaning efficiency of the filter bags. Intensity of pine wood dust layer detachment is lower than at the beech wood filtration. It is a result of differences in size and shape of dust particles formed at working different kinds of wood.
Insulation boards from thermoplastic bonded bark. Within this work, boards from thermoplastic bonded bark were made. Grinded bark of coniferous species and recycled polyethylene were used. Four variants of boards were manufactured: three of varying polyethylene weight ratio: 30, 40 and 50%, and fourth UF resin bonded. Assumed density of boards was 300 kg/m3, and thickness of 18 mm. Manufactured boards...
Influence of Steam Drying Process on Wood Mechanical Properties. Results of influence of gas-steam mixture drying process on mechanical properties of material are presented. Wood species, namely oak (Quercus L.), beech (Fagus L.), pine (Pinus L.) and spruce (Picea K.) from the northern part of Pomerania region in Poland, were subject of air-steam mixture drying process in a laboratory kiln especially...
High density solid biofuel from oil palm biomass. Large quantities of oil palm biomass available can significantly become the important source for renewable energy in Malaysia in the form of pellet or briquette. Nonetheless, lignocellulosic biomass should be treated to increase their energy efficiency prior to the combustion. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of torrefaction...
The high cost of fossil fuel and soaring consumer interest have encouraged people in the wood industry to look for faster and more energy-efficient methods to dry lumber. The air-steam mixture as medium of drying process was used in a laboratory kiln especially arranged for that reason. Experimental rig is based on automatic control system. At the time of drying measurements of the internal temperature,...
In this contribution, there are presented the results of determination of energetic characteristics of green chips of wood species Populus Deltoides clone Cifra such as: share of bark in chips, elementary chemical composition of chip combustible, volume of ashes in dry mass of bio-fuel and lower heating value of bio-fuel in dry state. Green chips made of branches of wood species grown on plantations:...
“Gas generators with fluidized bed for the production of wood gas”. The possibilities connected with the generation of renewable energy for heating of buildings by combustion of wood gas created in result of wood gasification were presented in this paper. The gas generators with fluidized bed for the production of wood gas were characterized.
Functions of the programmable controller for model based control of the convective drying process of lumber. This paper presents an electrical scheme and functions of the inputs and outputs of a programmable controller for model based automatic control of the convective drying process of lumber in chambers. The controller based on mathematical model of the drying process computes the set-point values...
Calculation of the temperature conductivity of frozen poplar wood during its defrosting. An approach for the computation of the wood temperature conductivity a during defrosting of the wood has been suggested. The approach takes into account the physics of the process of thawing of the ice, which is created in the wood by both the hygroscopically bounded and the free water. It reflects for the first...
Chemical composition of lignocellulose materials and porous structure of activated carbons. Chemical and elemental compositions of selected lignocellulose materials were determined and next a series of activated carbons was produced from these materials under strictly repeatable conditions. The chemical activation method (900oC) using KOH (4:1) was applied for the development of the porous structure...
An analysis of thermal decomposition in oxidative conditions of model wood-based materials glued with amino resin. The presented work includes the results of thermal analysis of model samples of particleboards glued with urea-formaldehyde resin with varying degree of sealing (5 ÷ 30%), which is a measurable factor changing the elemental nitrogen content in the samples. Changes of the kinetic parameters...
Analysis of the economic environment and operation conditions of the wood industry companies in Poland – influence of loans availability. The economic crisis is now one of the main causes of problems affecting not only the wood industry. Seems to be interesting to analyze the environment and economic conditions of the wood industry companies in Poland. There are many factors that determine the right...
The paper presents results of measurements for tracheid lengths in annual growth rings in spruce wood classified as resonant wood. Annual rings came from the mature wood zone. Moreover, cellulose microfibril angle (MFA) was determined in the S2 layer of the secondary cell wall. This parameter was measured in tangential tracheid walls. Mean values of both tracheid lengths and MFA in the experimental...
Analysis of the economic environment and operation conditions of the wood industry companies in Poland – influence of housing availability. The economic crisis is now one of the main causes of problems affecting not only the wood industry. Seems to be interesting to analyze the environment and economic conditions of the wood industry companies in Poland. There are many factors that determine the right...
Analysis of the economic environment and operation conditions of the wood industry companies in Poland – influence of salaries. The economic crisis is now one of the main causes of problems affecting not only the wood industry. Seems to be interesting to analyze the environment and economic conditions of the wood industry companies in Poland. There are many factors that determine the right development...
